Emerging Church Learning Party: Resources for Outreach, Worship, and Spiritual Formation in Today’s Culture

Next weekend I take off for Bethlehem, PA to help lead Emerging Church Learning Party: Resources for Outreach, Worship, and Spiritual Formation in Today’s Culture. The Learning Party is put on by the Praxis Center based out of the Church of the Apostles (Seattle).

A new movement being called the ’emerging church’ is making a major impact on the landscape of North American Christianity and around the world. FIND OUT what it’s about, and it’s significance for re-shaping church and mission for today’s culture.

EXPLORE how traditional mainline congregations can GET INVOLVED in and be enriched by insights from the emerging church movement.

This mission event will be helpful for those from mainline congregations (Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, UCC…) and also from traditional evangelical congregations.

Come to REIMAGINE CHURCH, and EXPERIENCE new ways to integrate ARTS, NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES and ANCIENT CHRISTIAN PRACTICES into worship and community mission for today’s contexts.

I am blessed to be a part of both Praxis and Church of the Apostles, and look forward to supporting and contributing to this event. I hope we can get many more of these learning parties and conversations going in the Midwest. Meanwhile, if you know anyone in the PA area, they can still sign up here.

  1. of locals rather than through the eyes of the media. If you have an older youth group or young adult group or anyone for that matter praying for people or places you might find this a useful resource. This is just an interesting Emerging blog with learning party resources. Included is a link to the Praxis Center. It’s a business but the concept is interesting. If you explore their course offerings they have some affiliation with Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA/Seattle WA and Mars Hill Gradute School in Seattle. I don’t

    thank you godfather!

It was very exciting and I really think people got a good glimpse of ways they can engage those who are disengaging/ed from the church. I think we still have another step to take before helping churches reach/interact/minsiter to/with those completely outside of an experience with the church.

My favorite moment was when Bob Fisher clarified that churches need to be in ministry with postmoderns. They will fundamentally fail if they try and do ministry to postmoderns.
