I’m a commuter

I’m so tired, but I can’t fall asleep until I write about my surprise this evening. Kim came home, started dinner, and told me she had a surprise tonight. I was telling her about the new iPod’s, so I knew that couldn’t be it. After dinner, we loaded up in the car, and she made me close my eyes. But from the turns and curves, I had a pretty good idea of where we were. I thought maybe we were headed to IKEA. (But that would be a bigger surprise for her than for me!)

As soon as we walked through the doors, I could smell rubber, and I knew where we were. REI. They have a huge climbing tower right inside the door, and the floor is covered with little chunks of rubber. So then, I thought maybe we were going to get some camping supplies, because we’ve been slowly gathering up equipment so that we can do it right. (None of that tail-gaiting style camping.)

But, instead, she said, “You probably need a bike first, right?”

So, 3 hours later, I walked out with a really nice road bike, shoes, shorts, lights, pedals, tools, etc.; everything I need to commute to work. So, beginning tomorrow morning:
