By entering into the community of faith, which embodies what it means to be a Christ community, a person is grasped by the embodied faith and brought to conversion, membership, and new life “within” the body. In this way “the local congregation is the essential hermeneutic of the gospel, the lens through which it may become known and by which it can be rightly interpreted.”
