Front End of Innovation

I am headed to Boston tomorrow night to spend a couple days at the Front End of Innovation conference, with a couple hundred folks trying to figure out how to Netflix their own Blockbusters before someone else does.

We get to show a bunch of folks a peek behind our curtain at Revelry: how we actually ship new priorities every single week.

Most people want a magic bullet or a three-step-guaranteed-success hack. The only secret is putting in the work, and being willing to chase the truth instead defending turf.

    This is what I learned at FrontEndOfInnovation.

    Expensive conferences don’t suck less … only the food is better. There are no shortcuts to your own learning and the discovery of needs and issues. All those Innovation Platforms and Frameworks distract from what works best – taking action and iterating towards optimization. and THEN getting permission. If you do not have a CEO supporting and defending innovation projects … leave. Most innovators got into trouble. Most innovators were appreciated AFTER making or saving money.

    Oh, and I also learned this:
