Sadness

Today has been a good day for me. In fact this whole week has been pretty good. My wife began working with me at the bank, so we get to see each other a lot more than when she was working nights and me working days. I had a great maragrita last night at Joe’s Crab Shack and then watched The Rundown with some friends. Hilarious.

So why do I mention sadness? In the midst of my good times, some people around me are having bad times. A co-workers wife has been in the hospital for a couple weeks and they don’t know what is wrong with her yet. Another co-worker got home one night last week and found out that his neighbor had hung herself in her backyard, leaving two little kids to find her and then move to their long-gone father’s house. Another friends of our’s mother-in-law has lost her husband to and affair and her job to her depression. These are rough times, and people need hope.

Father, please don’t let me go even one day without sharing the hope I have with someone else. Forgive me for the many times when I have been ashamed of you instead of publicly professing my love for you and dependence on you. Teach me to live like I have hope, and not hide it in my heart.
